Randy Stanton Morrison grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1962 he entered O.U., where he joined Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. During his studies, Randy became the station manager of the student-run radio station KUVY. After receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Drama and Fine Arts in 1967, he joined the Navy, where he was trained as a hospital corpsman and attached to the Marine Corps 1st Division in Vietnam. On June 14, 1970, while assisting the wounded of his unit in combat, Randy was seriously wounded and died on July 1st. Always the epitome of a gentleman, scholar, and jolly good fellow, the men of Delta Kappa Epsilon Rho Lambda Literary Association establish this scholarship in lasting memory of Randy’s faithful and honorable service to country and fraternity. What is the minimum amount to fund the scholarship with the O.U. Foundation? $25,000

Is there a set time to establish the Fund? DKERLLA has adopted a “$25 by 25” drive and is looking to have the scholarship fully funded by 2025, the date set for recolonization

What is the amount of scholarship money that will be awarded? $500 to $1,250 per academic year, depending on the status of the Fund and return on investment

Who is eligible to receive the scholarship? A full-time, regularly enrolled Helmerich School of Drama Student, preferably with an emphasis in Acting, who has a minimum of 2.50 GPA, a demonstrated financial need and is not a contributor to the Fund or an immediate family member of the contributor to the Fund.

How is the recipient of the scholarship chosen? Applicants will be selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee of the Helmerich School of Drama; The Director of the School, or his/her designee, serves as Chair and works in conjunction with the O.U. Foundation to determine the amount and number of scholarships based on the amount available in the Spending Account 

How is the scholarship funded? Donations from DKERLLA, its members, and the general public are made directly to the O.U. Foundation

Who is considered a Donor? DKERLLA and anyone who donates to the Fund

Are donations tax-deductible? Yes, all donations to the Fund are made to the O.U. Foundation which is a 501(c)(3) organization that issues year-end statements for tax deductions

How are the funds administered? The O.U Foundation administers the funds and invests them with other funds to achieve a higher interest yieldThe annual endowment distribution rate is 4.5% of the market value of the principal (averaged over the previous 12 quarters)

Is there a maintenance cost? Yes, once the scholarship is endowed at $25,000, the Foundation charges 1% from the yield to administer the Fund, leaving the remaining yield for scholarship distribution and reinvestment back into the Fund

Is there a suggested level of giving? Yes, DKERLLA suggests a minimum of $1,000.00

Can I make a pledge and then make periodic payments? Yes, some folks find it easier to budget periodic payments; a suggested monthly payment of from $33 to $50 per month would meet the “$25 by 25” goal
